Will You Partner With Me?

For several months, I have been praying about staying in Oaxaca for an additional year. In my heart, I want to stay. I have learned so much this year! I’m so thankful for the people God has placed in my life here and it’s a joy to see those relationships blossoming. God has also opened the door for me to return to Oaxaca Christian School and to continue working with Hijos de la Luna and in my church. In addition, I feel like I have finally adjusted here and learned how life works in Oaxaca. There is a place for me here in Mexico and I would really like to stay, but I need your help.

Even with many faithful givers, my funds have been lacking several of the months that I have been here. I will need to raise new commitments in order for me to stay another year. If you would like to partner with me in giving, please click on the “make a donation online” box at your right. The make a donation box gives you the option to set up an automatic monthly donation, should you choose to support this ministry regularly.

For those of you who have been faithfully giving, I thank you! It is because of your faithfulness that I have been able to stay this long. If however, you are unable to continue giving for an additional year; please will you let me know? I do understand that your circumstances may have changed or that God may be leading you to give elsewhere, but this will help me to know how to plan for the coming year. I sincerely thank you.

Rain

It rained yesterday!!
Before coming to Mexico, I never cared too much for rain. It meant gloomy clouds and getting wet. But, here in Mexico, we have a lot of sun. Normally, I don’t mind at all, but when we do have a change in weather, it’s a nice surprise. As I was listening to the rain, I began to think about how it cleanses the earth. Today, when I woke up, the air seemed crisp and fresh. The dust had settled and the birds seemed to be singing a bit more loudly than usual.

The other Oaxaca Assemblies of God missionaries and I had a prayer meeting the other night. We prayed that God would “rain” on Mexico. We asked Him to open the hearts of the people to the saving power of Jesus and that those who are already Christians would experience God’s refreshing. One missionary stated that Mexico is one of the only countries in Latin America that has never experienced revival. Would you please pray with me that God will wash the people here with His pure water of salvation and awaken them to His Holy Spirit? May God draw us all nearer to Himself with sincere hearts and cleanse us.
Hebrews 10:21-23“And since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”

Rest

-->Matthew 11:28-30- Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
We all get tired sometimes. There are seasons of life when we can’t seem to quite keep up and we feel weary all the way to our toes. Thankfully, Jesus understood that. In fact, He made time to go away by Himself to pray and even to sleep. We see this in Matthew 14:23- “After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.” And in Matthew chapter 8, we see that Jesus was asleep in the bottom of a boat during a huge storm. Now, that's what I call being tired! Jesus knew that He needed spiritual renewal and physical rest, so He stopped what He was doing and made a point to get that refreshing.
Well, I’m certainly NOT on the same level as Jesus, but I do find myself needing rest right now. So, I’m going away for a few days. Life has been busy the past several weeks and the stress has been building. I am not depressed, unwell, or even unhappy, but I do need some time to pray, sleep, and relax.
Thankfully, I have a great opportunity to do this. Our students are currently away for a week at a Christian camp, so it’s a good time to take off. I am traveling to Vera Cruz on the Gulf coast for a few days. While I’m there, please pray that God will refresh me in spirit, mind and body. I want and need to hear from Him, to receive His love and direction. Even though this will be partly a vacation, I really do want God to have the time to speak to me. Please pray that my heart will be completely open to Him. I need to pick up His yoke again and find His rest.
And you know what?? I'll say a prayer for you today, too. Maybe you need some rest and refreshing. I'll pray that God fills you up again so you can overflow, instead of running dry. Be blessed!
PS--I'll be sure to post some pictures when I get back!
